The last assignment at my local photo club was patterns photography. Yes, I had a couple of weeks to work on this assignment but I kind of don’t like to test my time management skills and creativity by making everything a ‘last minute’ deal. A couple hours before the meeting I realized it is the ‘last minute’ for me to come up with at least a few shots. I did not have time to go out and look for natural patterns so I had to work with what I had in/around the house. When it comes to capturing repetition in photography there are a few ways to do it.
For instance, you can emphasize the pattern by bringing the subject close in and making it look like there are hundreds of post-its on your table while there are only 20 or 30….
…or you can break the red tomato pattern by focusing on a single tomato with a little bit of green on it…
…or maybe you can show a clear colorful repetition in your photo.
