Hello everyone! Some of you have noticed my absence and wondered if I was OK. Thank you for your lovely emails, and for everyone else – yes, I am OK. Those of you who joined me on Facebook knew that the reason behind my absence was my move from Italy to the states. I was quite busy and my blog time simply slipped off of the “priority list”. I have several quite crazy weeks behind me and I am pretty sure there is more to come. I am planning to keep blogging in the future but from now on, it will probably be on an irregular base – until I completely settle down. I hope you understand.
So what have I been doing? In photos (all taken with iPhone), the answer would look something like this…
Lived in a hotel for a few weeks while trying to eat somewhat healthy…

Trying to acclimatize to Florida…

Traveling around Florida to visit family…

Spending crazy amounts of time in the sun and dirt… after 5 years of tenants, a landscaping project became a necessity…

Visiting my favorite places to eat, Panera Bread being at the top of the list…

Enjoying the life on the Emerald Coast…

I’ve also spent some time reading articles about photography in Florida where we have strong sunlight most of the day.
I found that following three tips can help you improve your photos taken during the midday:
1. Use circular polarizing filter, it helps to darken the sky color and preserves detail in clouds.
2. Use the (external) flash. Yes, use the flash when you shoot in the bright sunlight. It will help you fill the shadows.
3. Shoot during the Golden Hour. I wrote about the Golden Hour in The Golden Hour Photos taken during and around the golden hour are always beautiful so it is very useful to have the link to the Golden Hour Calculator handy.
Well, you got to see what I’ve been doing recently. I hope you will stick around to see what else I have to share… one of the things to share will be a new giveaway this week!!!

I hope you get your house upgraded soon and everything else too:)
It sounds as if you move is going not to badly. It must be quite a change coming from Italy to the States. Hope everything settles down for you soon.
Take care and enjoy your new home.
Welcome back (to the blog!) Mira! Can’t wait to see what you shoot in Florida–that last picture is really beautiful!
Thanks guys! I am hoping for smooth transition too. We had a few bumps on our way but nothing mayor. Jaymi, I cannot wait to get back into shooting mood!!!
Ellie, I am not really starting to feel the change YET – I guess I still think I am just on vacation here and will be going back to Europe in 30 days like I used too. We’ll see how I feel in a month when I realize that I am not going back (that soon).
Welcome back, glad to hear your PCS went … well as smooth as they can go and your adjusting, I’m sure I can only imagine!
Mira, glad to hear that you’ve landed in my neck of the woods. I figured it was about time. Hope things settle in well. I’ll be in touch.
